Guest Post | Autumn Makeup Picks

Hello, beauties! Joanne here, just popping over from Blog de Sherrell to guest post in place of Stacey today! (Wishing you lots of hugs and a speedy post-op recovery!)

So, technically it's still Summer here in the UK, but the sky has dulled and the wind and rain have been kicking up a fuss over the last week, so Autumn is definitely making an early appearance! Regardless, it is probably my favourite time of the year; There's nothing I like better than golden browns and earthy tones, and to be able to incorporate such beautiful shades into my makeup is definitely a plus! I thought I'd share with you a few of my season-appropriate, autumn makeup picks that I will definitely be rocking, and maybe you'll make a few new discoveries in time for, the coming season.

Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet (£33) is the perfect Summer to Autumn transitional foundation. While it is still quite matte, it has a hint of dewy-ness, which adds much-needed moisture to dry skin during the colder months. While Summer is all about natural makeup, Lumiere Velvet allows for medium buildable coverage, that most people opt for this season. To create a more luminous complexion, I'm opting for the Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator (£11.99) in the shade 100 Bare Light, which adds a beautiful golden sheen to the skin. I either mix this into my foundation, or apply as a highlight along the cheekbones, brow bone, center of the nose and cupids bow, to brighten.

Onto eyes, the Makeup Revolution Essential Shimmers Palette* (£4) is probably going to become my go-to eye palette for Autumn. It contains a beautiful array of neutral earthy and golden shades, with a shimmery finish, that can seamlessly take you from daytime to evening. They're all buttery soft and super blendable, so brilliant for creating that multi-tonal, smoked out eye - to not mention super affordable at a tiny £4!

Probably my favourite pick of the season is the Kylie Jenner-esque Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick (£18.50) in the shade Buff. It's a rich, neutral-toned chocolate brown, which despite being a matte finish, is super creamy and hydrating. It can be patted on for a subtle wash of colour, or applied heavily for a more vamped up look - of which I will definitely be honouring this season.

Last but not least, are the Rimmel London Pro Nail Polishes in shades Jungle Princess, Night Flight and Camouflage Chic (I'm not sure if these are still on sale). Despite being the perfect consistency (you can probably get away with just 1-2 coats), the
brushes are dense and tapered, which fit amazingly into the natural contours of the nail. Jungle princess - my favourite of the 3 - is a rich red-brown, with a gold and purple iridescence. Camouflage, as the same suggests, is a khaki green, and Night Flight an almost black, deep purple.

Thank you for having me and I hope this has provided you with some autumnal inspiration. While the days may be getting shorter and the nights colder, at least we have awesome makeup! I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments, and I'd be thrilled if you popped over to Blog de Sherrell and gave it a read - or maybe even a follow
