Selfridges London Beauty Workshop haul

Selfridges Beauty Workshop in the London store is a beauty addicts dream.  Spacious, light and airy with seemingly a treasure to be found on every display stand-I love mooching around there.  The staff are knowledgeable without being pushy and they stock an amazing array of premium skincare brands like Aesop, Antipodes and Astalift-and that's only starting with the brands beginning with A!

On a recent mooch whilst in London here is what I picked up from the Beauty Workshop, as well as some bits from the Mac counter.

Selfridges haul!

Philosophy Full of Promise duo serum

The first thing I picked up was this Philosophy duo serum.  My best friend Danielle had been raving about this and recommended that I try it.  I've been using this for the past 5 days so am looking forward to reviewing it soon.  The concept is simple-one serum you apply before moisturiser in the morning, one serum you apply in the evening after cleansing-all cased in a handy double ended tube.

Beauty Blender and Dr Bronners Magic Soap

I picked up a Beauty Blender-this seems to be one of those products that people either love or hate.  I was keen to try it because I usually apply my foundation with a brush or fingers but I'm always looking for ways to get a flawless finish.  I haven't tried it yet but the girl at the check out did tell me that these tend to sell out as soon as they are re-stocked.

I picked up a second bottle of Dr Bronners magic soap.  I featured this in my May favourites post here and I use it to clean my make-up brushes, something admittedly I am quite anal about!  This time I chose the peppermint one.

Dose mini polishes in 'Clever Girl'

I first saw these Dose mini 'pill' shaped polishes that come in the cutest 'pill bottle' on Cult Beauty but this trio 'Clever Girl' was constantly sold out.  I was delighted to see them stocked in Selfridges and snapped up these rich berry shades.  These make a fab present for any nail polishaholic!

Butter London polishes-Trout Pout, All Hail The Queen and Jaffa

Topshop polishes in Bean and Solar (spot the cat!)

It's fair to say I am pretty obsessed with Butter London polishes at the moment.  These are the first ones I bought and the formula is fantastic!  Trout Pout is the perfect orange-y coral for spring, I got so many compliments when I wore it.  The names of the polishes are great, the colours are fantastic.  I'm wearing the nude shade 'All Hail The Queen' today and again got compliments on it in my team meeting this morning.

The surprise for me was the quality of these Topshop polishes.  Both of these polishes are almost duochrome and are really long lasting.  I have been super impressed with them and for the price you can't go wrong.  The girl on the Mac counter was wearing an amazing cornflower blue polish and I asked her where it was from and she said it was Topshop 'Celestial' and she had been wearing it for 5 days and didn't have one chip.

From Mac I had some empties which qualified for two Back to Mac lipsticks.  My Mac lipstick collection is pretty extensive to be honest, I have over 40 now so it was difficult to pick two new ones.  In the end I went for rich but wearable reddy plums in Captive and Party Line.  Whilst I was swatching lipsticks Dani found it hilarious to pick the most random colours and swatch them on my hand-that's how I found the Nicki Minaj Viva Glam lipstick-in the tube it looks bright and garish, almost fluorescent-swatched it's actually a very pretty coral.

I also picked up the second eyeshadow quad from the Temperature Rising range.  I had already bought 'Bare My Soul' but was encouraged to look at the second palette and I am so glad I did-I have been wearing it all week whilst I have been working away from home and absolutely loving it.  It will definitely be in next months favourites I suspect.  It's a more lilac toned palette but it works very well with my pale skin and green eyes.  I wrote more about this palette here.

Whilst I was taking photos for this blog post Ali took a real liking to the products as you can see below.  I think he approves.
