New Mac collections-my picks!

In the words of the Ferroro Roche advert "Mac, you really are spoiling us!"

Mac currently has several collections out in store and online-the Baking Beauties, Temperature Rising, The Art of the Eye, Fashion Sets and Extra Dimension.  Riri hadn't launched when I was in the UK but it's been a massive success!

Last week I was in London and I spent a fortune at the Mac counter in Selfridges.  I wanted to give a little shout out to Liam the Mac artist who helped me with my spending spree-he was so helpful, non pushy and lovely to boot!  If you're shopping at Mac in Selfridges London I suggest you seek out Liam-he is the cute guy who looks like Will Young!

Here are my favourite picks from their newest collection-and luckily for me, everything I wanted was in stock at Selfridges.

My picks from the new Mac collections

FASHION SETS

This collection offers 4 co-ordinated sets-each available in lipstick, lipglass, nail polish and eyeshadow.  The shade that set my heart aflutter was 'Embrace Me'.  I'd tried to get it online but it was sold out so I was delighted when I saw it in stock in Selfridges!

Embrace Me is a bright fuschia pink perfect for summer!

BAKING BEAUTIES

Inspired by the couture of cake decorating, Mac have launched the delicious sugary sweet Baking Beauties range full of pastels and with names good enough to eat!

My picks from this collection were the two pearlmatte face powders-In For A Treat and Pink Buttercream.  I had seen them online but wasn't really taken with them until I saw swatches on Adriennes The Sunday Girl blog.  I loved them and when I saw them in real life snapped both up.

IN EXTRA DIMENSION

This is a beautiful collection of skinfinish, blushers and eyeshadows.  Stunningly packaged, these formula of a hybrid between liquid and powder (almost gel like) gives a highly pigmented, pearly and almost reflective finish.  I went for an eyeshadow in Smoky Mauve and a skinfinish in Definitely Defined.  The Definitely Defined highlighter probably wont make an appearance on my face until summer but the packaging of this product is truly beautiful to look at. Definitely Defined is the lightest of the trio of shades on offer and most suitable for my NW15 skintone.

ART OF THE EYE

I wasn't buying anything from this collection.  I swore I wasn't.  I read reviews of the 2 eye quads-they weren't great.  But I have been looking for a more grey toned smokey eye palette and I swatched Masat Al Lail in store and loved the combination of the 4 shades-Carbon, Rondelle, Waft and Gentle Fume. I also love the new clear topped, magnetic closing palette design which is featured in this and the Temperature Rising Collection.

This collection has a very 'Arabic' feel to it with a beautiful Middle Eastern woman wearing heavy make up featured in the promo pictures.  Living in Dubai I though it only right I should get something from this collection and I think it will go down a storm here.  Not sure what the translation of Masat Al Lail is-Al Lail means 'at night' but I've not come across Masat before.

The top left colour looks white in the picture but it's actually a pale dove gray-the next picture is more true to colour.

TEMPERATURE RISING

I was actually surprised to see this had launched as it hasn't yet launched in the US and the US are usually the market leaders for Mac launches.

Another eyeshadow quad stole my heart-Bare My Soul.  There are some fantastic swatches here again on Adrienne's Sunday Girl Blog (subscribe now, she is amazing!!) and I cant wait to use mine!!  I'm so tempted if I can, to get the second quad in this collection which is called 'Temperature Rising'
