UK/US trip-Haul post #1-Dubai Duty Free

I don't seem to be able to enter Dubai airport without heading over to the duty free and picking up something.  March 19th as I prepared to fly to Manchester was no different and here's what I picked up!

Christian Dior, MAC and Jo Malone all made me open my purse and spend my pennies!

Christian Dior Instant Cleansing Water

As you can see I have used up quite a lot of this Dior cleansing water already.  I picked it up so I could take all my make-up off on the plane and then I decanted it into little bottles when I flew to the US to do the same thing.  I really like it-it's not as drying as I find Bioderma to be and it gets your skin super clean and make-up free with one swipe of a cotton pad.  I included this in my Most reached for post a couple of weeks ago where you can read a fuller review.

Jo Malone-beautiful, simple, elegant.

Jo Malone Sugar and Spice Limited Edition

Not until I got back to Dubai did I realise these beautiful Jo Malone perfumes were limited edition for March only (but ssssshhhh Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates stores still have them all) and I was cursing myself because I had picked up 4 of the 5 offerings-and then desperately wanted the 5th.  This was one of those occasions where Dubai being the last to get everything worked in my favour because I managed to get the 5th in Dubai Mall this weekend!

The Sugar and Spice collection is based on an English High Tea and really appealed to me because of their 'good enough to eat' names and candy coloured labels-a twist on the classic and understated Jo Malone classic design.

As you can see I treated myself to Ginger Biscuit (my favourite, I actually bought a second bottle!), Elderflower and Gooseberry, Redcurrant and Cream and Lemon Tart.  Elderflower and Gooseberry and Redcurrant and Cream layered together with a splash of Jo Malone Earl Grey and Cucumber is to die for.  I passed on Bitter Orange and Chocolate at the time then instantly regretted it-but happy to say I now also own this beauty.

Mac Mineralize Rich lipsticks

I was excited to see the new Mac Mineralize Rick lipsticks had launched already in Dubai and after seeing all the reviews on Temptalia I had a list of the shades I wanted to pick up.  They didn't have them all but I managed to bag 3 of them!

L-R Lush Life, Everyday Diva, Elegant Accent

L-R Lush Life, Everyday Diva, Elegant Accent

Lush Life is similar to Rebel-a reddish berry plum but maybe Lush Life is a little more translucent than Rebel so for me, it's a little more wearable.  I wore it to my mums 60th birthday meal and loved the way it felt on the lips-non drying and smooth.

Everyday Diva is a true blue based red.  It's similar to Mac New Temptation which is a colour I love but a formula I don't love.  Hopefully I will find this to be the perfect middle ground!

Elegant Accent is the type of pinky coral that makes my heart sing-the Temptalia reviews likened this lipstick to Nars Niagara, Chanel Enjouee and Burberry Primrose Hill Pink which are, unsurprisingly lipsticks I already own!  It's a really beautiful colour that I will get a lot of wear out of.

Mac Pro Longwear Lipglass

L-R Persistant Peach, Whoops and Full Speed Ahead

L-R Persistent Peach, Whoops and Full Speed Ahead

The Mac Pro Longwear glosses are not a gloss I have even thought of buying before, that is until I watched this You Tube video I stumbled across by the beautiful Rebecca and Lauren.  This was their 'all time favourites' video and those girls now have a LOT to answer for to my bank manager.

Rebecca mentioned Persistent Peach, Lauren mentioned Whoops and all of a sudden I have both-and one more to boot!  I've tried Persistent Peach, in fact I am wearing it today and as both Rebecca and Lauren said, it is a thick lip gloss and I do recommend making sure your lips are completely flake free before applying but boy, these glosses have some staying power!

I really like both Rebecca and Lauren's blogs and they are well worth a read!  Although potentially I need to stop reading them before I buy any more of their recommendations!

The next haul post I will be doing from my trip will be the products I had ordered online that were waiting for me when I got home to my mum and dads!

Thanks for reading!
