Harvey Nichols haul!

I have been shopping at Harvey Nichols both in Dubai and in the UK (online) and both hauls seemed to happen simultaneously so I thought I'd post a 2 in 1 post!

UK Harvey Nichols haul

Remember my wish list post earlier in the month?  I was lusting after this Tory Burch bag on the Selfridges website for what seems like months.  Got my work bonus last week, went to buy it....and it wasn't stocked on the website any more!  Tears ensued!!!  I was so mad at myself, why hadn't I just bought it on my credit card and then paid it off?!?!  The Tory Burch website didn't have it in the colour I wanted and I looked everywhere online.  Harvey Nichols was a very final afterthought and guess what-I came up trumps!

Here she is....so lovely!

The other thing I bought from Harvey Nichols UK was this new Nars Light Reflecting Pressed Powder.  The reviews have been good I have seen, this one from Temptalia basically swung it for me.  I am using an Illamasqua colourless pressed powder at the moment and sometimes I feel like it makes me look ashen so I will be interested to see how this one compares.

Harvey Nichols Dubai haul

Guerlain
This was kind of an accidental haul!  I had to go to the Mall to get a new sim card for my phone and I just happened to wander into Harvey Nicks and spotted this Guerlain blusher that I had been lusting after but hadn't been able to find in the UK online.  I think I had missed the boat in the UK on this limited edition blush but Dubai being Dubai, they had only just received it so for once I was in luck!

And whilst I was waiting for the girl to find the blusher I swatched this eye shadow palette and it is amazing!!  I don't own any Guerlain eyeshadows but I suspect I might be tempted by more.

This blusher is SO beautiful.  The packaging is stunning, the blusher is housed in a heavy white case.  To me, Guerlain has really raised its make up game over the past year-it's shaken off its stuffy and old fashioned image and now, to me, just represents luxury, sophistication and beauty.

I think I have admitted before on my blog that I tend to shop now by online swatches or recommendations.  I rarely shop in Dubai because the sales assistants are just so pushy to the point of rude, and yet they know nothing about their products.  It's rare for me to go to a make up counter and just look and swatch products.  I usually make a list of what I want (if I can get it in Dubai) and go in and out as fast as I can-otherwise I just order online and have it sent to me in Dubai.  This purchase happened because it was taking the girl on the Guerlain counter a while to find the blusher I wanted.  I was getting bored and started looking at the eyeshadows and this one just screamed 'buy me'!

The packaging is DIVINE!  Its a heavy silver compact with a beautiful cut out pattern on the front.  Its cleverly designed as well because when you open a normal compact the mirror is housed in the lid.  In this compact the mirror is placed over the eyeshadow and opens out to the right when you open it up.  It's little details like that make justifying the price that little bit easier!

The compact houses 6 butter soft, mainly matte eyeshadows.  This is a neutral palette with a shimmery green/blue highlighter and a shade that can be used as a liner.  I haven't swatched my compact yet as I am still in the 'staring at it in awe' phase but I did in store and it was so soft and buttery to apply.  I can't wait to use it and I am so happy to have actually gone into and found something I really love that hasn't been reviewed to death online and I'm just jumping on the bandwagon!
