It's not me...it's you

So after a dose of shiny happy beauty products in my Top 17 products of 2017 post I thought I'd introduce a reality check and a post about some products that just aren't doing it for me right now.  These are the products I should have avoided and saved my pennies.

First up, the Huda Beauty Lip Strobe in Snobby (pictured below).  Now let me be straight, I'm not dissing the Lip Strobe rangely entirely-I also own Angelic (beautiful but photographs horribly and makes my lips look grey but I still love it in real life) and Saucey (I like this one, haven't worn it for ages, must dig it out) but the reason I dislike Snobby is that it's so full of glitter-which doesn't really translate in the photo below-but it is and I am 37 years old and glittery lips isn't something I can pull off.  Snobby is packed with brown and pink glitter flecks and just looks a little bit odd on my lips.

Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Powder

Why are people raving about this?  I heard it was amazing for setting concealer under your eyes but I find the formula to be so tightly packed and dry that I struggle to pick up product-even with the densest brush.  I'll try and work with it a little more but I was expecting to be wowed-I'm not.

Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer

I so expected to love this-it seems to be rated so highly and I fully expected it to be possibly a holy grail bronzer for me.  I'm pale so I purchased the Milk Chocolate version but the reality is, it pulls way too orange on me and just looks horrible.  I also find it really difficult to blend out seamlessly and it looks blotchy on my skin.  Too Faced is a very inconsistent brand for me....I love some of their products but there are some that I think are just not worth the hype-and they're usually the ones that are raved about in the beauty blogging world such as the Better Than Sex mascara and the Chocolate Bar eyeshadow palettes.

NARS lipstick in Orgasm

I was so excited when I saw this on holiday in France last year-I have always always loved Orgasm blush and have used it for years so a matching lipstick seemed like a no-brainer.  Sadly on me, this lipstick has absolutely zero pigment.  Nada.  It actually looks like I have just applied a clear lip balm.  I'm so disappointed because I have a few NARS lipsticks and love them all but this one is too sheer to be worth keeping in my stash.

Have you tried any of these products?  What make up products have disappointed you recently?
