These 7 base products are giving me life right now. My skin has been much clearer since I have been on the hormone replacement medication but I still have blemish scars and my undereyes are forever dark and wrinkled!
These products are helping me make the best of what I have and I love this combination.
I am so so late to the party on this one but I've been using this just over a week and I love this replenishing primer. And I know so many people love this-I have no idea why it took me so long! I would say now that my skin type is normal to oily and I find that this fluid primer not only makes my make up sit so nicely on the skin but also it just makes my make up last hours and hours and hours. It's lightweight and slightly illuminates the skin and just seems to smooth and hydrate and prep.
I then use not one but two foundations, dotted over my skin and then buffed in with the Artis 10 brush. I have come to realise that I love a good, liquid foundation with a decent density-these new pigmented but watery formula foundations do nothing for me. Too Faced Born This Way and By Terry Cover Expert are similar in density and blend beautifully. Born This Way in Porcelain is way too yellow toned for me on it's own but the shade of the Cover Expert balances out the yellow tones and the combination of the two together gives me coverage on the fuller side without it looking mask like or too heavy. The Artis brush makes light work of the buffing as well-it gives a seamless finish. I don't like the By Terry Cover Expert on it's own, it tends to highlight my pores really badly but mixed with other foundations it works really well.
I use the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer concealer under my eyes-it has a thin liquid formula and is best patted in with a damp beauty blender. It's not the best ever concealer for me as it does crease if you use too much (or have wrinkly undereyes like me) but it offers a decent amount of coverage, is buildable and the serum feel to the fluid makes it quite hydrating.
This liquid bronzer by Armani is absolutely amazing but I've realised it was limited edition for the summer and no longer available. And that makes me so sad because this is hands down the best liquid bronzer I have ever tried (although admittedly I can't name that many). But I LOVE THIS PRODUCT.
This is a very watery consistency and it blends absolutely seamlessly into the skin-it's not orange or muddy or too red, it's just an absolutely perfect tan shade. The only thing I haven't mastered 100% is the application-well the process for getting it from the bottle to my face-but once on my face it's perfection. At the moment I am dispensing one drop on the back of my hand and then using a RT Stippling Brush to rub that drop around the back of my hand to disperse the product evenly onto the bristles of the brush. One drop is enough to lightly contour and to bronze the temples but I am left with a very tanned looking hand! But because a tiny amount goes such a long way I can't think of a better way to do it.
But I love it, it's amazing and if they ever re-release it buy it, buy it, buy it!
I was so late on the bandwagon to the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder too but this is an absolute firm favourite for me now. I love the way it smoothes and evens out the skin-I've nearly finished my first pot and will need to go out and buy another one-I think this is one of the best loose setting powders I have tried to date.
My last step is a light dusting of the Estee Edit The Barest Bronzer in the shade Light/Medium. I recently reviewed this bronzer in full here and it's just a no fuss, matte, blendable bronzer to throw all over your face for a little extra faux health.
