I have a mixture of new launches and oldies but goodies in my current faves this month-a bit of shopping ones stash never hurt anyone and re-organising my collection has made all the things more accessible and on hand, leading to some great rediscoveries.
First up is a new launch which is strictly limited edition and may not even be available any longer. I was in the Trafford Centre the day after Boxing Day (I know, I know, it was as mental as it sounds) and the Dior Glowing Gardens collection had launched that day. I bought both of the highlighters, basically for the packaging alone and whilst they're stunning inside and out, Glowing Pink is the one I love the most. It imparts that almost white, luminous, 'halo' glow that works brilliantly on pale skintones. There's no glitter or chunky bits, just an ethereal and wearable glow. You can just see how it catches the light on the top of my cheekbones. If you can get it, get it. And for a more in depth review, hop over to Tasha's blog and read her post.
I touched upon the Bobbi Brown Intensive Serum Corrector and gave my initial thoughts in this post at the beginning of February and I am pleased to report my love for it has grown and this really now is a daily staple. Correctors always seemed like a right faff to me but this one is so easy to use that I am hooked. I am the shade 'Light Bisque' which has slightly salmon undertones and the MUA told me to apply this first, patting on 5 dots around the under eye area with the applicator and then blending before adding 3 dots of concealer on top. The corrector balances discoloration under the eye and there are shades to correct blue undertones, dark circles and sallowness. It's so lightweight and creamy, doesn't crease and feels hydrating. I pair it with the Collection concealer over the top and I prefer to blend it using a small brush or beauty blender rather than my fingers. I'll 100% be repurchasing.
A new discovery for me, enabled by my best friend Danielle, are the Sephora Colorful Shadow and Liner sticks, especially in this shade, Taupe. These chunky eyeshadow pencils glide on smoothly and don't crease or budge at all, all day. They don't flake or crack and you can use them on your lower lashline as a liner. My eyes can be quite sensitive and water easily but these cause me no irritation at all. They are also amazing bases for other eyeshadows to go over top. I would personally rate these higher than the Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow pencils (controversial but read my thoughts here). There are 33 colours, so something for everyone but Taupe is my absolute go to.
Tarte 12 hour Amazonian Clay blusher in the shade Exposed is one of those 'much raved about by bloggers' shades and formula and I have to agree, this is a special blush. I normally avoid mauve and terracotta undertones because they feel too stark on my pale skin but this formula just seems to mould into and shape the cheek with just a hint of warmth. I highly recommend trying this on your cheek in store if you can, swatching it will leave you cold because it looks a bit insipid and chalky. It's matte but it's super easy to apply and blend and it definitely lasts the distance. This brings life to my face and if you see me wearing a red lip on snapchat (shameless plug-username 'Stadybelle') then you can bet your bottom dollar I have this on my cheeks.
My final fave is very well loved as you can see. The Kat Von D Studded Kiss lipstick in Lovecraft has basically had handbag status since the day I bought it. And it's now down to the final stub. I really love this formula, it's matte but absolutely not drying. Lovecraft is a MLBB shade with just enough depth to look polished and pulled together. It's ever so slightly Kylie Jenner-esque and definitely pulls a little different on everyone. On me, some days it's very mauve and on others it looks more brown in tone. On Tash it pulls more pink. You can see me wearing it in this post. Looking back at that post makes me want to pull out Bachelorette immediately! There is one downside-the packaging is a bitch. It's chunky, clunky and the lid is always coming off in my make up bag.
