I am borderline between 'I really like this' and 'blah'. I know that's two really big extremes but lets say it has a strong start and a weak ending. But my skin likes it. By eyes however don't.
The Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting cleanser hands down winds the prize for the brightest coloured cleanser with it's sunny yellow appearance. It's a bit like a jelly but not solid, so maybe a gel is a better description. This is actually my second tub-I had a 100ml 'luxe sample size' from the aisle of doom in Sephora in the US and the packaging was glass and heavy and nice and then I also picked up the regular size (which is only 18ml bigger) and the packaging is identical but made of plastic which is pretty disappointing. On the plus size, it's pretty compact and travels well if like me, you're frequently away from home.
Currently I am using it as my 'first 'make up removing' cleanse and I literally slather it all over my dry face. I probably use far too much but the texture just feels so lovely on the skin-the gel spreads so easily and becomes an oil on contact with the skin and it feels really softening and luxurious. You can get a really nice facial massage because of the slip of the product. But when I add water to then change the oil to a milk to further cleanse the skin, the 'slip' in the product disappears and the product literally disappears from the face. You do need to remove the cleanser properly with a damp flannel as there is a slight residue if you don't but my skin has felt really soft, my make up completely removed and it hasn't irritated my skin at all. This isn't at all dissimilar to the Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel which I also love but the Clarins feels a bit thicker and more 'honey' like on the skin compared to the lighter texture of the Ole Henriksen.
The cleanser contains:
-Vitamin C: Brightens, supports natural collagen, and neutralizes free radicals.
-Rose Hip Oil: Natural source of omega 3, 6, and 9; regenerates, repairs, and nourishes.
-Virgin Cherry Oil: Rich in vitamins and antioxidants; reduces redness and hydrates.
It also contains lemon oil which is a potential irritant and is the reason I don't use this around my eyes because I find it stings. However I had a quick look at Sephora reviews and a lot of people do.
This would be a great cleanser for all skin types-especially drier skins that can feel tight after cleansing. I have combination/oily skin and it sits well with me because I do need something oily that can break down the days make up and grime. I do follow up with a second cleanser (and I will review that one soon because I love it).
What stops this being holy grail for me is the disappointment I feel every day when I add water to the cleanser-it goes from feeling really luxe to more or less nothing-and the fact I can't use it around my eyes-but I can live with that and this is a great all rounder otherwise.
The cleanser retails for £24 in the UK and $34 in the US.
