New in from Sephora

Oh hey there!  Remember that proclamation I made just last week that I was totally over matte liquid lipsticks?  Well guess what I did?  Bought 4 more.  I despair at myself sometimes for being way too easily influenced.
I bought two of the new Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in shades in Luxuriant and Experimenté-I really love the sleek compact packaging of these.

But unfortunately I don't like the shade Experimenté at all and I kind of new as soon as I swatched it because it was streaky and uneven.  Experimenté is a dark, vampy red and it applied as it swatched-the formula is really thin (as you would expect from something called 'ink' I guess) but it was patchy and I couldn't get it to be opaque without a couple of layers.  Luxuriant applies much more evenly and opaque but you have to use a liner with these-it's almost impossible to get an even finish without one.  And I hate the way they fade on the lips-the fade from the inside out, leaving you with an unattractive lip line.  Despite the thin formula, it did feel heavy because you need a couple of coats and it feels like a lacquer that doesn't set.  I'm really disappointed in this formula.  One plus was that for a matte, I didn't feel it highlighted every line on my lips and it wasn't drying-but it did feel tacky.

I also picked up two products from Too Faced-a brand I don't usually delve too much into.  I picked up a Melted Liquified Long Wear lipstick in Melted Fig and a Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear lipstick in Queen B.

Queen B has a grey toned mauv-iness to it and I don't know why I buy this type of shade as it does not suit me at all.  It's very aging on me and although the formula of these liquid lipsticks is very moussy and applies really nicely, once it did dry down I felt my lips looked extra wrinkly.  The doe foot applicator is much nicer to apply this with than the shorter, stubbier Chanel one.

We finally have a winner in the Melted Liquified Long Wear lipstick in Melted Fig.  Despite the fact I hate the packaging and the applicator (whoever thought foam applicators were a good idea should be put in the naughty corner) the applicator is surprisingly precise and this shade is exactly what I wanted Huda Beauty Trophy Wife to be without the matte finish. This lipstick shade will pair with pretty much any eyeshadow and the formula feels like a normal lipstick-it has a slight slip to it.

I also bought the Anastasia Master Palette by Mario and compared to the Huda Beauty Rose Gold Edition palette this feels, even when swatching, so much smoother, more buttery and pigmented.  This palette is epic.  I absolutely love the way the shadows blend, the finish on the eyes, the pigmentation and the lasting power.   The tones are very neutral and on the warm toned side but this is a palette I can see me reaching for day in, day out.  I thought it might be a bit boring but this is actual love.  I could quite happily use this and the Violet Voss Holy Grail palette only for the rest of my life.  I've even bought the Modern Renaissance palette because I really love red toned eyeshadow at the moment.  I'm wearing this palette in the pictures above of the Chanel Allure Ink shades too.
