Dolce and Gabbana make up haul

Dolce and Gabbana make up

I am not sure four items really classifies as a 'haul' but hey stay with me here.  This little D&G splurge was a very impulsive Boxing Day boredom online purchase.  I only have a few bits from D&G-it's pretty easily accessible here in Dubai but in the UK I believe Harrods are the only stockists.

I've had success though with pretty much everything I have tried-they do an amazing full coverage matte foundation which I reviewed here, they do a couple of great mascaras and I love their 'Monica' lipsticks.

Dolce and Gabbana Perfect Mono in Desert

Dolce and Gabbana Mono Perfect in Gold Dust

The first two items I picked up with the Mono Perfect cream eye colours in Desert and Gold Dust.  The shadow is encased in a heavy glass jar with a gold lid but the opening is quite narrow and I can see it being difficult to use as I get closer to the bottom.  The texture is a little wet but light and 'mousse-y'.  When I first tried Desert I thought 'oh this is the colour of my eyelid, what a waste of money' but I have grown to utterly love this.  It applies evenly and dries instantly on the lid, leaving behind a matte velvet, non creasing finish.  It's so light on the lid and blends easily.  Desert is a cool toned nude with a very very slight sheen to it but its the perfect base for everything.  Below I am wearing it all over the lid with a tiny bit of MAC Satin Taupe though the crease.

Gold Dust is a pale shimmery gold.  It doesn't apply as smoothly as Desert and the texture in the pot is a little more play-doh like-and can pill a little when you're scooping it out.  But again, it sets to a powder quickly and doesn't budge.  Desert is the winner though!

Dolce and Gabbana classic cream lipstick in Gorgeous

The first time I tried the Classic Cream lipstick in Gorgeous I was really unimpressed.  My lips were heavily moisturised and the lipstick slid across my lips imparting barely any colour at all.  I felt like the formula felt very cheap and slippery.  The good news is that on my second attempt my lips weren't as moisturised and the lipstick applied so much better.  It gives a very dewy, glossy finish and 'Gorgeous' is the perfect 'goes with everything' lipstick!  They're very smooth and hydrating and this has been upgraded to handbag status.  I really like the very pointed tip of the bullet, it makes application a doddle.

The Eyeliner in Bronzo is unfortunately the dud.  I think I may have to say it's actually the worst eyeliner I have ever used as I just can't get it to show up!!  It swatches beautifully on my arm but when I try and line my under eyes it just doesn't show at all.  And on the waterline?  Forget it.  The pigment is so poor and it lacks the creamy usability you get from something like an Urban Decay or Mac eyeliner.

Have you tried anything from D&G make up line?  It's definitely a range I would recommend trying out-their foundations are my top pick but their eyeshadows are definitely worth a look too!
