As soon as I saw the first images of these (pretty sure it was Sara at Color Me Loud who caused the enablement) I wanted one. No I didn't, I wanted five!
I actually ended up with six after the SA in Sephora gave me Mona Lisette instead of Wonderland so I ended up buying Wonderland as well!
There are going to be about a million reviews of these popping up all over the place over the next couple of weeks so I'll keep it brief with my personal pro's and cons
Pro's
- Glossy, pigmented colour that doesn't bleed (except for Wonderland which did on me)
- Long lasting-I got 5-6 hours out of mine which is impressive
- Fades evenly, no nasty rings left behind or patchiness
- Non drying
- Teardrop shaped application wand makes it super easy to apply to the bottom lip
- Lips look plumped and juicy!
- Easy to top up if needed throughout the day
- No glitter or sparkle in the shades
- There is a distinct tingle when you apply-something I am personally not a fan of
- The shape of the application wand makes it quite tricky to apply to the top lip and get an even line-especially the brighter colours
- The formula applies quite thickly so you need to ensure you smooth it out evenly with the wand-you can see where the colour has pooled on my bottom lip in the Wonderland and Mona Lisette swatches
- They are tacky-for at least half an hour after application-not nastily so but you definitely know you are wearing something on your lips
- They have a tendency when first applied to get on your teeth-however a quick 'finger in the mouth' trick removes the excess and stops it happening again
The initial very 'wet look' lacquer finish doesn't last and the formula does dry down to a very wearable but still glossy long lasting stain.
In summary, they're a kind of easy to use, wetter than lipstick but thicker than gloss, super shiny lip product! I like them, I don't utterly adore them but I will get a lot of use out of them-I have particularly been loving Tiny Pink and wearing it non stop the past few days. If you like the YSL glossy stains you will love these.
Are you tempted by these new launches?
I can see what you mean about them getting on your teeth, but hey ho, I always seem to have that problem anyway! xx
ReplyDeleteI am glad you indulged! xx
ReplyDeleteCorals are definitely my weakness too! xx
ReplyDeleteBoth those shades would look gorgeous on you xx
ReplyDeleteBy the Gods! Magique is gorgeous! (Well, OK, all of them look stunning on you, but I have a particular weakness for corals...) They look so juicy!
ReplyDelete:) what great taste we have xx
ReplyDeleteHey Stacey, ha now I think I need Magique, too :p I tried on my Rieuse yesterday. What a darling everyday color! I am personally a big fan, but you definitely have a point here. I think everyone has to try this on to know if they'll like it or not, because nothing is entirely comparable!
ReplyDeleteI must admit that I didn't notice any tingling, but for me the wear just wasn't there and I far prefer the YSL glossy stains :o) Xx

Love the colors you've selected! I still haven't made up my mind about these but I guess I will try at least one eventually. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm tempted, despite the cons.... in particular by Magique and Rieuse xx
ReplyDeleteYou're a girl after my own heart-I love a bright pink! xx
ReplyDeleteLove the look of them all but Tiny pink and rieuse look totally up my street! I may have to treat myself to one of these, love the packaging. xx
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing, and I'm not even a fan of lip glosses, but these look too good to not have!! Love Wonderland, Vertigo and and Magique!

I have really been loving Mona Lisette-considering I didn't mean to buy it as well!! x
ReplyDeleteThank you-I will definitely have a look at your blog xx
ReplyDeleteHi Taslima-they do matte down a bit but they first application is definitely 'in your face, almost dripping' glossy!! xx
ReplyDeleteI believe the Maybelline Colour Elixirs may be quite a good dupe for these xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you Jen! xx
ReplyDeleteRieuse and Mono Lisette are my favorites! I'd totally pick those two up hopefully eventually!
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing! I love lip gloss and the colours are all so lovely! I love your blog and I have followed you with Bloglovin. If you ever get chance to have a quick look at my blog I would be delighted! Thanks :)

Eeep not ready to go there yet but if I can get satisfied enough with one pic I'll email it to you. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, all six of these shades are amazing! Thanks so much for the swatches and helpful review, Stacey :)
ReplyDeleteI saw you rocking bold lips on your latest post! Tiny Pink and Mona Lisette are my favourites-and I didn't even intend to buy Mona Lisette
ReplyDeletexx
I picked up the wonderland polish too lol!! xx
ReplyDeleteI've been really loving glossy products recently, I'm definitely tempted but being on a budget the cons are gonna stop me getting these despite how gorgeous they look!
ReplyDeleteEmmiHearts
You're welcome! xx
ReplyDeleteHi Lauren, no sadly they're not available here but I have also read reviews and I agree, they do sound similar xx
ReplyDeleteHi Rach, yes it's a really lovely easy to wear colour xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sara! I am really loving Tiny Pink-that and Mona Lisette are my faves at the moment x
ReplyDeleteLol I will remember this sound advice Isabelle!! xxx
ReplyDeleteDefinitely-they're not drying at all either babe xx
ReplyDeleteI think the lighter colours are lots easier to wear-having said that, I wasn't planning to buy Mona Lisette but I really like it!! x
ReplyDeleteI am still deciding! I have blogsaled a couple of glossy stains because I found them quite drying but I definitely don't find these drying at all xx
ReplyDeleteThank you! Rieuse would be a great one on you! xx
ReplyDeleteI often think I have no idea what you look like....it would be SO nice to put a face to the name
xxxxx
Mm, Mona Lisette looks like my kind of shade! I'm not normally the biggest fan of glossy finishes, but these look almost like water shiny! xx
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of shades, I picked up wonderland as well (and the nail polish to match). I do really like these, though could do without the tackiness, guess things are rarely perfect :)
ReplyDeleteEvery additional image I see of Rieuse puts it higher on my list. I need to try that one!
ReplyDeleteOoh, these are gorgeous, Stacey! I'd likely go for the Tiny Pink shade.
ReplyDeleteThese look (and sound) a lot like Maybelline Color Elixirs. Have you tried them, and if so, how would you compare the two?
xx Lauren // Dirty Blonde Ambition
OMG Wonderland is SOOOO pretty!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the tackiness either.. I had one on for dinner a couple of days ago and my boyfriend told me my lips were a hot mess.. Haha. Not to be used for dinner ;-)
LOL, I am always the one to blame huh! :-P
ReplyDeleteNow the enabled enables the enabler if that makes any sense and I want that Tiny Pink! Want!
But I want all the lippies I see on you so it is not new ;-) have to endure!
I love the wet and shiny look to these as most stains are quite matte when they initially go on. I'll have a nosey next time I am passing through Boots.
