7/11-the holiday edit

It's the 11th of the month which means it's time to post my 7 favourite products at the moment for my 7/11 mid month post.

This one has a holiday focus as I am blogging to you from my hotel in Phuket where I am having some much needed rest and relaxation after a very busy year!

The hotel is AMAZING!  I have a suite which has a huge terrace with our own sunloungers and a hot tub.  The bathroom is to die for, I want to pack it in my suitcase and take it home....

Best bathtub I have ever seen, its huge!

Day beds and hot tub in the top right corner

So my 7 favourite products this month have a bit of a holiday theme to them.

1-Benefit Coralista

I LOVE coral-I'm a coral-aholic!  I love it on lips and cheeks and nails.  It makes me feel so summery!  This was a recent purchase for me after having it on my wish list for a while.  This blush is a warm coral pink and comes with a little application brush.  It's not too shimmery so can be used during the day to give you a healthy flush.  I am loving it!  It costs GBP23.50 from all Benefit counters.  I bought this in Dubai but I think Benefit is pretty much global now-I've seen it here in Thailand whilst shopping in Bangkok earlier this week.  As always with Benefit, the packing is super cute-I love a bit of leopard print!

2-Belmacz Gold Leaf Lip Gloss in Cornelian

I cannot get enough of this gloss!  I have raved about it earlier on my blog but this is just the PERFECT holiday lip gloss.  I love the texture, its like soft jelly but is totally non sticky on the lips.  Its moisturising and glossy.  The colour is insane, its a pinky coral-almost neon.  I bought mine from Cult Beauty where it costs £23 (or £19.17 without the VAT if shipping abroad like I do).  I literally want to wear this every day of my holiday and when I have a tan (ahem) I bet it looks even better

3-Daniel Sandler watercolour fluid blush in So Pretty and Passion

Daniel Sandler is a well established professional make up artist in the UK and this is a new discovery for me but I've been reading a lot about it on twitter.  The pots you see here are 'tester' pots you can buy from the Daniel Sandler website, I thought they would be perfect for holiday.  The texture of the blush is something completely new to me, it is literally as soft and fluid as water and it contains Vitamin E and Jojaba.  They're so easy to blend and to build the colour as well.  I am loving the two sample pots I bought for holiday.  For some reason I can't find these on the website now but I think they were about £2 each.  I also bought a full size Charm and Cherub watercolour blush.   I think these are going to last for ages as well.

Currently there is an offer on the Daniel Sandler website on the Charm watercolour blush.  When you purchase one of these products a donation is made to the Moon and Stars charity which raises money for UK Cancer Research and as an added bonus, Daniel will include one of his waterbrushes for free.

The full size watercolour blushes cost £14.50 and as I purchased more than 2 items I also received a free concealer brush.  I used my Aramex Shop and Ship account to get these to me in Dubai but I believe they offer international delivery.

I also really like the 'How to' videos section on the website-from the watercolour blush video I picked up some good tips- always shake the bottle before applying, how to use the waterbrush and also how you can mix shades together to create a unique colour.

4-Make Up Forever Aqua Shadow Pencils in 20E and 30E

I have been using these Make Up Forever chubby eyeshadow pencils for ages now and I love them.  In my opinion they are FAR superior to Urban Decay eyeshadow pencils, which on me make my eyelids really dry and I find the colour cracks and flakes.  The make up forever ones are much creamier and don't crease at all.  They're also waterproof so perfect for holiday make-up.  I do not use an eyeshadow primer when I use these as I find I don't need one.  The colour is buildable and blendable with your fingers.  20E is a shimmery taupe and 30E is a darker shimmery beige/brown.

I bought these from the MUFE store in Dubai but you can buy MUFE in the UK from Guru MakeUp Emporium for £15.95

5-Anastasia Lash Genius

So I happened to read a review about this product on Marina's fabulous Make Up 4 All blog the same day this sample bottle I got from Cult Beauty in their recent 'Goody Bag' offer turned up and oh my goodness, how have I lived 32 years without this?!?  This is a waterproof sealant top coat which completely stops your mascara from running or smuding.  I like it so much I've bought a full size bottle from Cult Beauty but I've brought this sample size on holiday with me.  In the humidity in Bangkok it worked an absolute treat!  Also, I have been using Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Mascara which I love but it does tend to smudge towards the end of the day-this product has stopped that!  Lex from Cult Beauty tweeted me and gave me the tip to ensure that you ensure your mascara is completely dry before coating your lashes with this waterproof sealant.  I bought my full size verison from Cult Beauty for £14 although I didn't pay VAT so it works out at £11.67.

And finally 6 & 7 The Body Shop Sweet lemon body scrub and Philip B Maui Wowie Beach Spray

WOW this is a fab body scrub from the Body Shop!!  It smells DIVINE, like very freshly squeezed lemon juice and it really wakes me up in the shower!  The reason I love this scrub is that the beads are quite coarse but they don't 'stick' to your skin and it was easy to wash them off without leaving a residue behind.  It leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft.  It contains lemon seed oil, lemon peel and Community Fairtrade sugar.  I could sit smelling it all day!  I bought this from The Body Shop store in Dubai Mall but it retails in the UK for £12.50 for a 200ml tub.

I bought the Philip B Maui Wowie Beach Mist from Cult Beauty on a whim-I wanted a sea salt spray to take with me on holiday instead of blow drying and straightening my hair every day and I read reviews of this one which seemed to trump Bumble and Bumble's sea salt spray which is highly rated.  The smell of this-OMG-think tropical holidays!  It is packed with Sea Salt, Orchids, Tahitian Gardenia, Aloe Vera and Oils of Kukai and Coconut.  Whilst in Bangkok I have been spraying this on damp hair and blow drying and its made my hair super soft.  Now we're in Phuket, I sprayed it onto my hair this morning and left to air dry loose.  I think this is a great product and I'm so glad I purchased it.  'Purchasing on a whim' products always seem to be the best!!

I'd love to know what your favourite products are at the moment!

  2. I so wish I could get away! This hotel is beautiful. At the moment I enjoy The Body Shop's Sweet Lemon Body Oil. Quite nice, unfortunately the fragrance doesn't last long but good moisture.

    1. Oooh I'll have to look for that! I noticed in Bangkok that they have the Xmas editions whereas in Dubai we only have a limited range so might stock up on the ginger range!
